What is the history of hydrospeed?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The launch of the practice of <\/span>hydrospeed<\/b> as a sporting discipline, comes from the invention of three engineers from the Ponts et Chauss\u00e9es in Paris. Thus, the float named \u00ab\u00a0<\/span>Hydrospeed<\/b>\u00a0\u00bbappeared in 1978. It is thanks to this wonderful invention that it is possible to have protection, combined with a flotation system. Therefore, in terms of equipment, it is a float.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The person who practises\u2019<\/span>Hydrospeed<\/b> is equipped with a rigid foam float, as well as a reinforced neoprene wetsuit, a life jacket, a helmet and flippers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What will propel you forward through the watercourses is the propulsion of your flippers while using your body and the float, which will allow you to steer yourself in the white waters of the Verdon. Concretely, once positioned on the float you will be immersed in the rapids of the Verdon Gorges, for an incredible aquatic activity with family or friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

What physical fitness is required to go hydrospeeding?<\/span><\/h3>\n

This whitewater sport demands all your energy. It is therefore necessary to prepare physically beforehand, as with any sporting activity. Here we go for a 4 km descent, which is around 1 hour 30 minutes of floating, comfortably positioned on your board and equipped with your fins. The first part is straightforward, allowing you to gently get to grips with this sporting activity. Afterwards, we move on to small rapids (class II) (you can see the classification of the rapids <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>) while entering the Verdon Gorge. The moderately difficult rapids (class III) follow one another to finally lead us to the Couloir Samson, where the Solitaire rapid awaits us. After navigating it, it will be possible to surf in a small stopper wave or go back through the final rapid.<\/span><\/p>\n

The necessary supervision is provided by experienced, state-qualified guides. These individuals guarantee that the descent runs smoothly and ensure safety through difficult sections. Indeed, the Verdon is a technical and hazardous river. To take part in whitewater activities, it is necessary to be able to swim and to be supervised by approved professionals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
