Our ABOARD Rafting base in Castellane, in the heart of the Gorges du Verdon
The ABOARD Rafting base in Verdon
Located 2.5 km from the village of Castellane, the leisure centre Adventure Forest ABOARD Rafting is located on the road to Gorges du Verdon, direction Moustiers (D 952), See access map.
The meeting and equipment point for ABOARD Rafting's white water activities (Rafting, Cano raft, Air-boat, Aqua-rando, HydrospeedIt is ideally located on the banks of the Verdon, and situated at the base of Adventure Forest/ABOARD Rafting. We therefore have direct boarding thanks to our private access to the river.
Please note that for the canyoning activity, meeting points are given directly at the activity location, not at the ABOARD Rafting base. This is because canyoning takes place in the surrounding Verdon gorges.
The Adventure Forest leisure park also features the following activities:’High ropes course in the woodsKids' Trail, Junior Trails and Adventure CourseThe courses are located in a 3-hectare pine and deciduous forest on the banks of the Verdon. Two large zip lines cross the river.
Our base offers on the same site swhite water ports and a treetop adventure course. This allows for a unique combination of these various outdoor activities in the Verdon Gorge. We offer several tailored packages depending on the season (see our Multi-activity programmes).
On site, to enjoy a moment of relaxation in this exceptional site that is the Verdon Gorge, you will find:
- A large free private car park,
- A reception,
- A toilet,
- Showers,
- Shaded terraces,
- A food truck (cold drinks and fast food).
You can also spend some time there Unusual night under the stars in a hanging try in the trees, in the middle of the forest.
Le Verdon
Over the millennia, the river Verdon carved the majestic Gorges du Verdon, creating the largest canyon in Europe.
Rising at the Col d'Allos, the Verdon initially flows freely in the section of the Haut-Verdon. This is where’ABOARD Rafting organises descents in the spring, before the river reaches the Lac de Castillon, located just above Castellane.
Downstream, between Castellane and Moustiers, the Verdon continues its turquoise course, regulated by the Castillon dam, before flowing into the lake of Sainte-Croix. This part, called Moyen Verdon, is the theatre for the white water activities offered by ABOARD Rafting.
According to the dam's water releases, you can enjoy different adventures: Rafting, canoe-raft, airboat You Hydrospeed water release days. On non-water release days, a Canyoning allows you to discover this natural wonder, nestled in the heart of Provence.
