Your team of eight will work together to balance and steer the raft under the expert guidance of your instructor.

Before you set off, your guide will give you all the safety instructions so you'll be prepared for any accidental or even intentional falls into the water. The best time to go rafting in the Verdon Gorge depends on the water levels, which are controlled by the Castillon dam. Generally, the season runs from April to October. However, for the most exhilarating experience with high water, late spring (May and June) is often recommended. For a more leisurely float with calmer waters and beautiful scenery, late summer (August and September) can be ideal.

From April to October

The flow of the Middle Verdon is regulated by water releases from the EDF dam.

In spring (April to June), water releases from the Castillon dam take place regularly and allow for navigation downstream of Castellane. In the absence of water releases during this period, we suggest navigating upstream of the dam on the upper Verdon (in the Fontgaillarde gorges), a section of the river fed by melting snow in spring. These rafting trips are located about 30 minutes from Castellane.

In summer (July and August), water releases on the middle Verdon are only scheduled on certain daysthe Tuesday and Friday usuallyand allow navigation on this section. However, the upper Verdon routes are not navigable in summer due to insufficient natural flow.

In autumn (from mid-September), the water releases are regular again and allow navigation on the middle Verdon.
